Think Ahead to
Protect Against Costly Business Interruptions
With summer
finally here, memories of the wicked winter that just passed
may be fading fast. But don’t let the long, dry days and
bright sunshine lull you into forgetting the effect
excessive snow and ice can have on your business
productivity. With relative "calm" in the forecast, there
may be no better time to start developing or finally
finishing a business continuity plan to keep your operation
running smoothly in the event of an interruption of any
kind.
At IT
Solutions, we can speak from recent experience on this
topic. Our business continuity plan was instrumental in
keeping us operational one day last February. Most of our
clients never knew it, but one of the blizzards that raged
through the night that month knocked out power at our Fort
Washington office for most of the following day. Our alert
systems kicked in before most of us were awake and we went
into immediate business continuity mode to switch over our
phones, email, and line-of-business software to emergency
backup systems so that our staff could get online from home
first thing and support clients without missing a beat.

Power Your
Business for Today's
Dynamic Marketplace
The article re-printed courtesy of
IBM ForwardView eMagazine
In
today's competitive markets, business operates 24x7x365. And
that's why midsized companies are moving toward an
infrastructure that is optimized, responsive,
energy-efficient and automated to meet the demands of our
always-on global marketplace.
It's no secret
that data is expanding. According to some researchers, the
volume of data is growing by nearly 60 percent annually.
From communications to finance and operations, better use of
information can strengthen insights and help companies make
fast, accurate decisions. Add too much data and the weight
of information can strain storage systems and servers -
causing decisions to be made with incomplete or inaccurate
information. But with a more dynamic infrastructure,
information overload is controlled, so IT and business
processes can come together to drive significantly more
business value, without straining an organization’s
resources.

Tips for Keeping ID Thieves Behind Bars
By David Milman

from the HP Small Business Center
The pressures on
small businesses are great enough without having to worry
about technology. But technology changes every day,
seemingly every minute. For small business owners and
employees on the go, this means work doesn't stop just
because you're a road warrior. In fact, many of our
customers tell us they are even more productive on the road.
Protecting
yourself, your equipment, your employees and your business
from technological threats in this mobile world can be a
dizzying challenge for any small business owner. Before you
hit the road, consider these tips and best practices to
steer clear of on-line identity theft:
1. Don't ignore your
security updates, such as those from Microsoft Windows if you're on
a PC. When that little annoying pop-up window says you have updates,
pay attention! Those are critical to making sure you have the latest
tools to protect your computer.
